Product Description

A good chunk of the coffee we used in this decaf were dry process, fruit-forward types that we had a feeling would come through in the final product. That hunch has certainly paid off in the cup! Right from the start, the ground coffee gives a good indication of what to expect. Stone fruit, honey, and tropical hints came through in our City roast, along with a subtle floral accent. The wet aroma offers up a sweet molasses note in the steam, with dried fruit and spice, aspects of spiced fruit cake. Getting into the cup, this decaf is super, and one for those who are after more than just bittersweetness. When roasted light, it has attractive acidity fruit flavors, and a sweet aftertaste. Brown sugar flavors offer a nice backdrop to the top notes that emerge from the background as the coffee cools. Fruit flavors are a little muted at first, but start to take form with each sip. We noted stone fruits like peach and nectarine, along with persimmon filling, and a complex spiced aroma that's a mix of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chai. There are some 'decaf' flavors too, like bready pumpernickel and rye crisps, but they're not the top line, nor do they take away from the origin characteristics.
