Colombia Antioquia - Fray Moreno
  $8.00 - 14.00
This coffee is anything but 'neutral'! Berry-toned aroma, stone fruit accent of red plum, hints of mint and Yerba Mate, and a tangy-sweet pomegranate note that heightens acidic impression.

Product Description

This lot from Fray David Moreno is one of the more fruit-forward coffees from the Southwestern Antioquian town of Urrao. The fragrance and aroma are berry-toned, with allusions of berry-infused maple syrup, fruit compote, and more. The level of sweetness matches these intense fruited characteristics, especially in the wet aroma. This translates in the cup as a tangy-sweet fruit flavor that reminds me of pomegranate juice adding to the overall acidic impression. Fray Moreno's coffee cools to a stone fruit accent note of red plum, with interesting confluence of mint, Yerba Mate tea and black olive hints in the back end. At Full City roast level, a grape note mark inky bittersweet chocolate flavors, and body is heightened by the low tones, though still a little too thin for espresso in my opinion. This coffee is far from 'neutral' in flavor, with plenty of surprises to offer those looking for a clean, complex Colombian coffee.
