Shows some fruited sweetness in the dry fragrance, that along with a caramel note, come together like caramel-covered apple. The wet aroma has honey sweetness, paired with something like warmed oatmeal with brown sugar. Fruit is not the central cup characteristic in my assessment, but rather, raw sugar flavors are. The underlying, unrefined sweetness of demerara and sugar-in-the-raw gives way to a baked apple flavor that straddles a sweet/winey edge and seems to build some steam in the aftertaste. The coffee is transformative in that way, starting off candy sweet and fading to hints of fruit in aroma. The cool cup also presents a sweet walnut note that tastes like it underwent a dusting of cocoa powder. This cup manages to have a resonant fruited side too - dark grape in this case - and with it comes bittersweet flavors that echo chocolate torte.
