This Uraga coffee shows archetypal 'Guji' cup character (if there is such a thing), delicate floral, spiced tea notes and vibrant, aromatic citrus notes. The fragrance is perfumed with flowery smells of jasmine and more with somewhat milder hints of loose leaf black teas. Both fragrance and aroma are light and airy at City roast level, the sweetness showing aspects of sugar cane juice, which is floral in its own way. The cup is filled out with raw sugar sweetness as well and brisk, black tea-like acidity that, along with baking spice accent notes, lends to an impression of Earl Grey tea. The cup is quite perfumed and reminds me of a super clean Gesha coffee. Even when the coffee is hot, notes of jasmine pearl tea are incredibly fragrant, and as the coffee cools, floral-toned citrus notes take the form of lemon verbena and Meyer lemon as well. It's important to keep your roast level to the slim range of City and City+, where Uraga Yabitu shows a competition-level cup profile.
