This second lot from La Libertad region is in line with the previous, a solid core bittersweetness easily developed. The fragrance and aroma are characterized by smells of toasted sugars, dry roasted nuts, and dark cocoa powder. You'll see a broad range of raw sugar flavors in the brewed coffee, brown sugar and molasses come to mind, along with a sugary nut flavor note that's like butter pecan ice cream. These sweet, sugary flavors help to offset the bittering 'coffee' character at the core of La Libertad, and together construct a balanced brew. There is a cocoa powder note too that follows through to the finish, and comes through loud and clear. La Libertad is a bodied coffee with the weight of apple juice, and acidic impressions are present without being the coffee's focal point. A bittersweet espresso shot that's sure to function well as a cappuccino base. This description is from the cupping notes of our coffee importer, Sweet Maria's
